Aruna Co-Founder Received the Trophy of FORTUNE Indonesia 40 Under 40

on 16 March 2023, Utari Octavianty, the Co-Founder and Chief Sustainability Officer of Aruna, attended the FORTUNE Indonesia Summit as one of the awardees of FORTUNE Indonesia 40 Under 40 at The Tribrata, Darmawangsa. With a life background revolving around fishing, Utari is very familiar with the field.  Her parents didn’t even allow her to work in the sector.  Even though her parents saw an unpromising scenario for the fisheries sector, Utari managed to turn that stereotype all back—years later, quite unexpectedly.

With her mission to make the sea a better livelihood for all, she then met two of his college mates who also shared the same interests and visions.  They are Farid Naufal Aslam and Indraka Fadhlillah. Inefficient supply chains, poor data integration and processing, and bad quality control were the very things that pushed Aruna to move.  After nearly 7 years of sailing, Aruna has succeeded in empowering 40,000 Aruna Fishers in 31 provinces in Indonesia.

Utari stated, “Responsible implementation of ESG (Environment, Social and Corporate Governance) has been Aruna’s focus since the very beginning. It is a pleasure when we can passionately do what we do while giving a positive impact on society and the environment at the same time.
